Where are my projects saved, and how do I back them up?
Projects and imported images or recordings are saved in the browser where you create them. They do not automatically sync to another browser or computer. Export a .modolly project file to keep an independent backup of the editable scene and your media.
Save a backup before making changes to your browser
Wait for Saved on this device, then choose Export project backup in the editor or Export project file from a project’s menu. Keep the downloaded file somewhere you control before clearing site data, changing browsers or moving computers.
Restore an editable project
Open Projects and choose Import project file. Importing creates a new project rather than replacing an existing one. The backup references platform model IDs and versions; the models are not embedded, so loading them still needs internet access and the appropriate plan.
If a project seems missing
Check the original browser, website address and signed-in account first. A different browser profile or website origin has different local storage. If browser data was deleted, restore a downloaded backup; signing in again cannot recover a project that existed only in cleared local storage.
